Kimball Man Jailed, Faces Hearing On Drug Charges

A Kimball man was arraigned and will appear in court Feb. 12 in a case involving drug charges.

Shawn Howell, 36, on Tuesday remained in the Kimball County jail on a $50,000 bond. After his arraignment, he was appointed an attorney. His preliminary hearing will be in Kimball County Court on Feb. 12.

A search warrant was executed by the Kimball Police Department with the Kimball County Sheriff’s Department assisting on Jan. 25 at 400 S. Myrtle Apartment #2.

Several items were discovered, including drug paraphernalia, bags of Marijuana, THC wax and money. Four THC wax baggies were discovered inside the kitchen freezer. The THC wax baggies were labeled from 60.57% to 69.74% THC.

Howell is facing a host of charges, including possession with intent to distribute marijuana and possession of a Schedule I Controlled Substance.

THC wax is a potent cannabis extract ranging from levels of 60% to 80%. It either amber or yellow in color and has the consistency of syrup. According to MarijuanaBreak, wax cannabis is very popular because of the high contain of THC, which is equivalent to 15-20 joints.

THC wax has several names, including Butane Hash Oil, honey oil and “710” (which spells oil when it is turned upside down).

THC wax is dangerous to make as it requires butane, which is highly volatile. In addition, THC wax can cause severe hallucinogenic effects, according to information on Campus Safety magazine.
