Kimball Wrestlers Place Three At Chase County Tournament

The Kimball High Wrestling Team had three wrestlers place at the Chase County Tournament this past Saturday with Stephen Bateman taking 3rd place honors, Trey Schindler 5th, and Matt Johnson 6th.

Coach Wade Brashear, commenting on the latest tournament, said, “Chase County turned out to be a tough, long tournament. This week our top placer was once again heavyweight Steve Bateman. Steve dropped a semifinal match after being up 6-0, but he battled back to finish third.

“Matt Johnson won two matches on the day to put him in sixth place. Trey Schindler was our other placer. Trey lost a very winnable match in the consolation semi finals, but battled back and took fifth. Overall, we wrestled well, but we dropped some big matches.”

Connor Cluff at 132 went 1-2 winning a 12-3 major decision.
