Little Kid Wrestling A Big Thing

For any of you city of Kimball officials who are trying to come up with ideas on how to bring people into Kimball, just hold more wrestling tournaments for the little kids!

If you happened to drive by the Kimball High School this past Sunday you would know what I mean. The parking lots were filled on all sides as the families of the 178 young wrestlers who were involved, came to watch and cheer for their special little grapplers.

Action here at home Saturday evening with Kimball hosting Chase County with JV game times at 2 p.m. followed by girls varsity at 3:30 and boys varsity at 5 p.m. Come hungry as the Kimball FFA will feed you.

On Tuesday January 14, Kimball travels to Potter Dix for more basketball with game times beginning at 3 p.m.

The Kimball High wrestlers are back in action also this weekend as they go to Garden County for tournament action that gets underway at 9 a.m. Saturday.

Sports Memories

Last week I gave you a re-cap of some of the year’s highlights for Kimball High listing the top achievements in the girls and boys golf along with cross country. This week let’s remember more outstanding memories from the track and wrestling of last year.

How about Brady Kilgore? The young man holds the Kimball High School record in the 110 meter high hurdles. Brady picked up two medals at the Nebraska State Track meet winning the gold in the Class C 110 meter hurdles with his time of 14.79 seconds, and he also placed 7th in the high jump! Congrats also to Kimball’s Corey Travis who was a state qualifier in the Shot Put.

We had two state qualifiers in wrestling last year also in Jordan Cluff and Toby McManigal and they both represented themselves, and their school, in fine fashion. More great memories last year.

Kilgore

I might mention that Brady Kilgore received a scholarship offer to continue his track at Chadron State College, where he is now enrolled. Brady is home for the holiday break and I talked with him. He is doing all of the team workouts, but will not compete this season as he is more or less being held out this season in red-shirt fashion while he gets his scholastic requirements in line and then hopes to go full bore next season.
