KIMBALL 36,

A nice road win for the Kimball girls at Grant Friday night with the Lady Longhorns coming out on top 36-21. "Once again we had a slow start and I don't know why we do this, but we got it going in the 2nd quarter" said Coach Chauncey Pedersen.

Kimball led 8-7 after the 1st period but outscored the Lady Plainsmen 13-3 in the 2nd quarter to take a half time lead of 21-10. Kimball put the game away in the 3rd period by out scoring the hosts 11-3 and the Coach Pedersen used a lot of bench in the fourth period while coasting to the win.

Sydney Biesecker led Kimball scoring with 11 points and was 5/8 at the foul line, and pulled 5 rebounds. Sam Bemis had 5 points along with a team high of 7 rebounds and 5 steals. Megan Spicer also had 7 points and got Kimball's only 3 pointer. Carli Wurdeman had 5 points and 5 rebounds, Payton Wise 4 points and Jenna Greenwood 2.

MORRILL 40,

Kimball 28

Kimball came out strong with a solid first quarter of play against a good Morrill team Saturday evening and led 8-5 after 1 quarter of play but the Lady Lions took the lead mid-way through the 2nd period at 11-10 and never relinquished the lead from that point on.

Morrill played aggressive defense and the game saw several delays in play with players suffering injuries that brought about time-out calls. Both teams had 6 players in the scoring columns with the winners having 2 players in double figures. Ilycia Guerue led Morrill with 14 points and hit 3 treys. Madison Mendoza had 10 points with 2 treys. Jaiden Steiner had 6, Libbie Schaefer 5, Shandie Hess 3, and Paityn Homan 2.

Carli Wurdeman led Kimball with 13 points with 2 treys and 5/6 foul shooting. She also led Kimball with 4 steals and had 10 rebounds for a double-double. Jenna Greenwood had 6 points, Sydney Biesecker had 4 points and a team high of 11 rebounds plus 3 steals. Katie Heeg and Megan Spicer both finished with 2 points and Sam Bemis had 1.

In team stats, Kimball had too many turnovers with 30 which hurt their cause, and once again didn't shoot the ball very well. From the field they were 10/37 for 27% and were only 2/19 from 3 point range for 11%. At the line they were 6/9 for 67%, pulled 31 rebounds including 7 offensive, had 10 steals, 4 assists, and 17 fouls.

Biesecker left the game late with an ankle sprain that could hamper her play this weekend. Bemis sat out several minutes of the Morrill game after taking a fall and did not return. A tough weekend coming up for Kimball with road trips to Hershey Friday and to Bayard Saturday. This will close out pre-Christmas play until January 7 when the Lady Horns are at South Platte.
