Winter Sports Open This Weekend

The weekend you Kimball High winter sports fans have been waiting for has arrived and it all begins this evening with the Kimball High wrestlers hosting Bayard on the Longhorn mats with mat time at 6 p.m.

Coach Wade Brashear has built the numbers up to 14 to start this season and has a group of 5 talented freshmen on the squad to go along with the returning upper classmen.

Tourney

Time

The Longhorn basketball season opens up with the usual Kimball four school tournament with a format for both the girls and boys. First round play is this Friday afternoon and evening with games beginning at 3 p.m. between Potter-Dix and Morrill girls and the boys at 4:30. At 6 p.m. it will be Kimball and Dundy County girls followed by the same two schools boys game at around 7:30 p.m.

All of the Friday games will be played in the main gym, but on Saturday things tip off at 1 p.m. in the main gymnasium.

The boys losers game for 3rd place will be played in the practice gym at 2:30 and the boys championship game will go off at 2:30 in the main gymnasium. The sophomore class will be serving food for you hungry fans on Friday.

Wrestling

The Kimball High wrestlers are right back in action this Saturday at the Akron, Colorado Tournament with a 9:30 start time.

Junior High

The bad weather we experienced this past week canceled out some junior high wrestling at Grant and junior high girls basketball game, too.

This coming week on Monday, December 9, the junior high wrestlers will be at Mitchell with a 1 p.m. start time, and the junior high girls basketball action is at home with Bayard coming to Kimball for games at 3 p.m.

The junior high girls are also in action today –Thursday, December 6 – at Sidney with game time at 4 p.m.
