Nebraska Firearm Deer Season Wraps Up

247 Deer Were Checked Into Sportsman’s Liquor

The 2019 Nebraska Firearm Deer Season came to an end this past weekend and a total of 247 deer were checked in a Sportsman’s Liquor, the local check-in station in Kimball.

As reported last week after the opening weekend of 134 checked in, another 113 hunters filled their licenses as reported by midmorning on this past Monday and hunters had until noon Monday to check in their animals.

Breaking it down even more, there were 216 mule deer and 31 whitetail species checked in, and there were 207 bucks and 40 does in the final count.

Lissa Wangler, owner of Sportsman’s Liquor, said it amazes her how many out-of-state hunters check their deer – and not just from neighboring states, but from far away states.

Some of these, of course, are former residents who grew up and used to reside in the Kimball County area and have since moved away but return to hunt.

Although the firearm season has concluded, there still remains archery and muzzle loader seasons, and possibly additional land owner permits, so there may be additional deer taken from the surrounding area before it all concludes.with.
