Winter Sports Practices Begin Monday

Longhorns Make WTC All-Conference Teams

We are at a lull in the area school athletic happenings, but we do have some junior high sports taking place, and the high school sports practice officially begins Monday, Nov. 18, for the winter sports, which includes boys and girls basketball and wrestling.

The Kimball Junior High wresters have had two tournaments, including the Banner County and Kimball invitationals, and the young Longhorns are back in action at Hemingford today – Thursday – with a start time of 10 a.m.

The Kimball Junior High girls basketball team opened up hosting a very talented Bridgeport team that easily won both the 8th and 7th grade games by a large margin.

Believe me when I say that Bridgeport girls basketball is going to be very good for the next few years and that includes this year’s high school team.

The Kimball junior high girls are in action today – Thursday – at Gering with the tip time at 4:30 p.m.

You fans are going to have to be content with the junior high events until the high school agenda begins on Dec. 5 when our wrestlers host Bayard.

Kimball High basketball begins on Dec. 6 with the Kimball tournament, which includes the usual teams of Potter-Dix, Morrill and Dundy County.

The Western Trails Conference has released their All Conference selections for both football and volleyball. Last week, we announced the Kimball girls who were honored, including senior Jenna Greenwood and junior Sydney Biesecker on all the All Conference Team plus Nicole Delaplane and Megan Spicer on the Honorable Mention list.

This week we have received word that junior Christian Allen-Van Pelt made the All Conference Football Team, and seniors Austin Lulf and Jacob Withrow were both honorable mention.
