Parade, Extra Patrols Ready For Halloween

There will be plenty of treats in the Kimball area this Halloween, along with extra police and sheriff's patrols to promote safety – and minimize tricks.

The annual Halloween parade in downtown Kimball, sponsored by Points West Community Bank, will start at 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, at Kimball Public Library.

Almost all Kimball businesses will participate and hand out candy to kids, organizers said.

As of Tuesday afternoon, the list of participating businesses looked like this:

Points West Community Bank, Points West Insurance, the library, FirsTier Bank, Kimball HVAC, Western Nebraska Observer, Bemis Drug, Java Blend, Larsen's Jewelry, Décor Store, Kimball Bakery, Chute 7/Good Times, Sportsman's, Abramson's office, Flower Haven, Burke and Wilson, Antelope Energy, Hometown Hardware, Hometown Floral, Betty Schulte Hair, Goodhand Movie Theatre, 3 Schoes, Shear Touch-Holli Bohac, Kimball Health Services, Panhandle Coop, Main Street Market, Clean Harbors, Woody's, Kimball State Bank, Dairy Queen, Schadegg's Motors, Nebraska Coffee- Hanna Snyder, Kimball Auto Parts, Wolf Auto, Karen's Kitchen-Karen Hewitt, Kimball Service Center, Anu Spa, Connie's Cottage and Dollar General.

The Kimball Police Department told the Observer that it will have extra patrols out Halloween night for the holiday. Officers also will participate in the parade as in past years.

The police department offered these safety tips for kids and parents: Put reflectors on bags or costumes or carry little flashlights.

The Kimball County Sheriff's Office is unable to participate in this year's parade but will have extra patrols Halloween night with all officers out on patrol.
