Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
Kimball police officers and a Kimball County sheriff’s deputy initiated a traffic stop Sept. 7 on a vehicle in the 300 block of South Chestnut Street for failing to utilize its turn signal.
After officers made contact with the driver, they said they requested and received consent to search the vehicle. A pat search of the driver revealed an item of drug paraphernalia on their person.
The driver then advised that there was suspicious activity going on at the driver’s residence. Officers said they found paraphernalia there and saw strange activity from another person.
After the driver gave officers consent to search the driver’s garage, officers said they discovered that the garage was barricaded.
After a short standoff, officers said they made entry and detained Christopher Overlin. After searching the garage, officers said they located a bag that contained three separate bags of methamphetamine with contents that totaled approximately 51 grams or over 1.8 ounces.
There were also two separate bags with contents that totaled approximately 1 ounce of marijuana, officers said. There were also several small baggies located inside of the bag. These baggies are linked to the sale of narcotics.
After further investigation, Overlin was arrested for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine over 28 grams, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of marijuana less than 1 pound, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The next day, Kimball police officers and Kimball County sheriff’s deputies executed a search warrant at 505 South Walnut St. pursuant to the findings on involving Overlin’s arrest. During the execution of the search warrant, officers and deputies located a small amount of methamphetamine, prescription pain medication, drug paraphernalia and medications in mismatched pharmaceutical containers.
Misty Jefferson was arrested and charged with possession of controlled substance (meth), possession of controlled substance (opioid), and defacing prescribed pharmaceutical bottle.
