Opening Week's Sports Highlight Goes To Payton Wise

Highlight of the opening week of Kimball High School Fall Sports is of course the new Kimball school record round of golf shot by sophomore Payton Wise.

The talented young lady won the Bayard Tournament with her awesome round of 46-35=81 for her second top ten medal in the opening week as she finished 9th at the Sidney Tournament in the season opener. Last year, as a freshman, Payton was a state qualifier and state medal winner, and also tied the Kimball school record of 82 that Loni Janicek shot back in 1999.

Miss Wise has a very good startt on the 2019 golf season!

Kimball

Football

A crazy start to the Kimball High football season with the opening game this past Friday halted with 4:15 left in the 1st quarter due to lightning. The game actually had a 30 minute delay to the start because of lightning.

When the electricity wouldn’t go away, the game had to be called off Friday and then re-started Saturday evening at 6 p.m.

The Horns seem to be a bit beat up and are idle this week, so they have an extra week to try and get healthy and ready to play at Southwest on September 13th.

One final note – The Observer is looking for someone to do some sports writing as this OLD scribe is ready to hand the reins to someone and take a bit of needed time away from this role.

Give Jim a call at the Observer and give it a try.
