Kimball All-Class Reunion Making Move From Fourth Of July T Farmer's Day Weekend
Plans are in the works for the All Class Reunion on Farmer's Day weekend next year – September 25, 26 and 27, 2020.
The All School Reunion Committee is working closely with the Farmer's Day committee to make use of the Farmer's Day activities and then expand those activities to the reunion, so there will be plenty of things for people to do.
The reunion committee is trying to broaden the scope of the activities and attract Longhorns of all ages. A banquet is already in the plans for Saturday evening during the reunion.
The official site for the All Class Reunion is a Facebook page – Longhorn Alumni for Kimball, NE.
In an effort to conserve costs, the reunion committee is asking for people to share information about the big weekend. Social media will be used to promote the reunion, but the committee will be happy to send printed information whenever it is needed for those not on Facebook.
Kim Baliman and Erin Heidemann are heading up the reunion side of things for Farmer's Day. If you are not on the social media, just call or email them. Baliman is at 308-235-5818 and [email protected]. Heidemann can be contacted at 402-450-5391 and [email protected].
They seek others on social media to "share the word" and try to help them locate those Longhorns without that platform.
The All Class Reunion is not for just alumni. It is for anybody and everybody who ever attended the Kimball schools.
Former Longhorn cheerleader Kathy Wistrom is heading up the former cheerleaders, and Dawn Moser is in charge of former band members.
Changing the date from Fourth of July weekend to Farmer's Day weekend has been a little contentious, but both committees have worked through the problems and are on board with the change. The reason behind the change was reunion attendance seemed to be dwindling.
The first All Class Reunion was held in 1994 and was organized and directed by Karen Robinson. Generally, the reunion happened every five years. The last one was in 2015.
Oh, and of course, they are in need of volunteers.
