Summer Tournaments In Full Swing

The Vince’s Corner ABCD Double Draw Scrambler was held this past weekend and hard to believe this was the 10th annual for this very popular event.

A lot of the names you may not recognize as this tournament brings them in from all over. And yet you will recognize a lot of our local golfers as well and the names of former residents who drive and fly in from out of state to meet up with old friends and enjoy a few days back.

One big golf happening in the books and more on the calendar so get ready. The cross country/Glow Ball Scramble that got cancelled a week or so back is on again for this coming Saturday evening with play to begin at 5 p.m. with a break for dinner and then more golf in the dark.

Four Winds Pro Chad Wise said at the time of this writing he had room for two more 4 person scramble teams so give a call to the Pro Shop at 235-4241 for all the info and to get your team entered.

Don’t forget the 28th annual Kimball Hospital Foundation Golf Classic is coming up August 3rd at the Four Winds and this is another event that attracts lots of teams and is such a worthy cause. Organizer Kerry Ferguson said the proceeds from this year’s tournament, which is a four person scramble, will be used to help purchase a new nurse call system for the patients at Kimball Health Services.

The cost is $320 per team or $80 per player and this gets all golfers a Callaway custom Foundation Golf Classic polo shirt, lunch and a buffet supper at the Wind Break, numerous raffles and flag prizes awarded, and a putting contest for cash prizes. Lunch and registration at 11 a.m. on August 3rd with a 12 noon shotgun start.

The Star-Herald cam out with their Boy’s All Region Basketball selections this past week and Kimball High’s Izaac Reuter was one of the 20 young men honred.

Also in the sports news this week is Kimball’s Bib Mueller and son Jay. Bob won 1st place in the age 70 and up division at the annual Oregon Trail Days Bike Hill Climb up the Scottsbluff National Monument. Bob is in the mid 80 age division by the way. Jay finish 3rd in the 50-59 age group.

They were both in the Mountain Bike Division. This is quite impressive!
