2019 Kimball Memorial Day Service Salutes Them All

Thirteen-year old Boy Scout Patrick Howard was part of the contingency placing flags on the graves of veterans from the Spanish American War to the most recent war. About a dozen individuals scoured the cemetery to place the flags prior to Memorial Day.

Mother Nature held back the breeze for just long enough Monday morning for the 2019 Memorial Day program earlier this week.
John Beaty, VFW Post 2243 Commander, welcomed those in attendance and it was followed by an opening prayer by Post Chaplain Don Olson.
Mayor Keith Prunty spoke words of deep meaning for our county's fallen soldiers, and an everlasting thank you to those who have served our country as he gave an introduction to the program.
"United We Stand," all in attendance recited the Pledge Of Allegiance, and it was followed by the echoed sounds of local Jenna Greenwood as she sang the national anthem.
A wreath was placed on the Tomb of the Unknown Solider by Cheryl Holz. Following was guest speaker Rich Thomas. He revealed some possible unknowns facts of our county's history and the brave men and women who have fought for our freedom.
The Roll Call of Local Veterans who have passed away with in the last year was announced to include: Walt Wann, Lee Levesque, Lester Reemts, Ervin Clay, Darrell D. Frank, Bruce Peterson, Rodney O Woode and Johnny Biberos.
An Honor Guard Salute and the playing of Taps by Ethan Bemis led to the rise of the Memorial Flag to full staff, with a slight breeze to lift Old Glory for a brief moment.
Thomas then offered a closing prayer for the ceremony.
An invitation to the VFW followed the ceremony for the public hamburger feed.
