Spring Sports Well Under Way; Daum Signs With Agent

April 25, 2019

Spring sports have really gotten busy, despite some still cold and wet days. The Kimball High boys golf team was at Scottsbluff this past Monday, at Bridgeport this past Wednesday, and will be at Chase County for the SPVA Tournament Friday, and at Bayard for WTC Saturday.

The Junior High track team is at Pine Bluffs today (Thursday) and the High School track team is at Sutherland for the SPVA Meet.

Don’t forget the Booster Club Banquet and awards night for the Kimball High Athletes this coming Tuesday evening, starting at 6 p.m. at the Kimball High School. A lot of deserving young people will be honored for their accomplishments.

Along this same line, the Observer recognizes an athlete of the week each week and if it was strictly based on top accomplishment of the week, it could be a repeat many times, but there are so many young people doing so well, especially in the spring sports, that we try to give the award to several different young athletes, rather than repeat each week.

Brady Kilgore is one of those young athletes who excels each week. At the track invite in Mitchell this past week, Brady was voted Most Valuable Male Athlete of the meet. He won 3 events and place in a fourth. The Chadron State recruit with a track scholarship from CSC, has been told by the college coaches that they might coach him towards a career in decathlon.

He shines in the hurdle events, of course, but has become a good high jumper this year. He has competed in cross country the past two years after suffering too many concussions in football and had to drop that sport. He has ran the 400 some this spring. It will be interesting to see how and what Brady does at the college level.

Kimball’s Mike Daum has signed a top sport agent to handle his possible NBA career. All of his fans are anxious to see what is going to happen for Big Mike and where he might end up, and with what team, in the NBA Draft.

Stay tuned!

The Thursday night mens golf league will begin their season with fun scrambles beginning on the 2nd, 9th, and 16th and their first night of league play will be the 23rd of May.
