Kimball High Boys Golf In Full Swing After Practice Round

Potter-Dix, Mitchell Tee Off With Horns At Four Winds

The Kimball High Boys Golf is in full swing and the Longhorns got it started with a nine hole practice round involving their own team, Mitchell, and Potter Dix, this past week at the Four Winds.

Coach Chad Wise had 8 golfers participate, Mitchell had 9, and Potter-Dix 4.

Kimball’s five varsity golfers included Dillon Wise who shot the low score of the day with his 39, Izaac Reuter with 44, Zane Anthony 45, Jess Sieren 46, and Cole Henton 51.

This is also the five Coach Wise will take to the opening tournament at Mitchell this past Tuesday. Also playing as JV members this past week were Ethan Greenwood shooting 54, Jaren Winstrom 56, and Jacob Walker 63.

Coach Wise said “We were nervous and rusty for our first time in competition, but we were also glad to get on the course and compete. I think all of our golfers had fun and enjoyed the evening. We certainly need to work on course management.”

Wise went on to say that his top three golfers, who are the three returning seniors, played alright and he also said that sophomore Jess Sieren shows promise of helping the team, as did Cole Henton and Ethan Greenwood.

Seniors Winstrom and Walker can certainly play better, Wise said.

“The varsity team is based on average scores from practice, but also on making all the practices, scores on the rules, tests, etc.,” Wise said.

The varsity spots can change from week to week and tournament to tournament.

Mitchell’s varsity five, coached by former Kimball teacher/coach Nick Kuxhausen, saw Caden Knutsen shoot 55, Austin Thyne 56, Burke Schneider 57, Ashtyn Martin 61, and Mark Lamp 80.

The 4 JV players were Jaron Anderson with a good round of 50, Garrett Hessler 57, Mykin Marcoe 59, and Cody Chambers 60.

Potter-Dix had 4 golfers who are new to the game and played as JV players only. Full names and scores were not listed.

Weather permitting, the Kimball High schedule is busy this week with the Bridgeport Tournament set for today (Thursday), but this could be cancelled or changed to an alternate date due to weather, and Saturday, April 13, is the Chase County Tournament.

Tuesday, April 16, is the Morrill Tournament.

Again, fans should be aware that because of weather forecasts there could be some changes in these dates.
