Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First

A Blizzard In The Works

The weather cooperated enough to allow our area track and golf athletes a chance to get in some competition this past week, but watch out again this week. Already the Potter-Dix Junior High track meet, held at Kimball, has been cancelled from April 10 and moved to April 24. Boy’s golf at Bridgeport, today, Thursday, April 11 is very doubtful I would say, what with a blizzard in the forecast. The Kimball boy golfers are scheduled to play at Chase County Saturday, and at Morrill next Tuesday.

Congrats going out to Kenny Greenwood for the season’s first Hole-in-one at the Four Winds. Kenny got his ace on Sunday, April 7th, on hole number 3 using an 8 iron for his 143 yard ace.

It was witnessed by his playing partners of Chuck Christensen, Lloyd Howard and son Jordan Greenwood.

I had a new experience while golfing at the Four Winds this past Monday.

While our foursome of Keith Staehr, Don Trofholz, Terry Lovesee and myself were putting on hole number 2, a foursome of wild turkeys walked past us in the trees just north of the green! We could not believe what we were seeing!

The Canada Geese pair is back and nesting by the lake on number 10 also.

Our Mike Daum finished out of the money at the College All Star night carried on ESPN this past week where the top 8 men and women shot for top honors in 3 point shooting and the top 8 men showed their skills in the slam dunk contest, but Big Mike was having fun and enjoying the experience.

Us fans have had lots of fun following his exploits through his entire career, and now we await to see what is going to happen NBA wise?

Stay warm and dry!
