Case Involves Alleged Child Abuse Resulting In Death
An arrest was made last week, April 2, regarding a child abuse case that occurred Sunday, March 31, in Kimball, according to Kimball Police Chief Andy Bremer.
A man identified as Alexander Romero has been placed in custody and is currently charged with child abuse resulting in death, a class 1B felony that carries a minimum sentence of 25 years with a maximum sentence of life in prison.
Romero will have his preliminary hearing at the end of April.
According to Kimball County Attorney Dave Wilson, the Nebraska Attorney General’s Office has appointed Attorney Doug Warner as the special deputy county attorney to assist on this case.
Bremer added that the Nebraska State Patrol also is involved with the investigation of this case.
No further details have been released. The Attorney General’s Office declined to give a statement, restating that no additional information was available.
