Record Setting Season For Girls

The Kimball High Lady Longhorn Basketball Team ended up with a win-loss season of 10 and 11, but nonetheless they had some school record breaking happenings.

As a team, they improved the school mark of fewest points allowed in a game when they held Potter-Dix to just 12, bettering the old mark of 13 to McPherson County in 2014-15.

Senior Kate Reader moved her name up in several categories despite not playing her junior season after injuring a knee.

In no particular order, she moved into 14th place in points in a season with 271, is now fifth in points in a career with 838, and is sixth in free throw percentage at 75.2%.

Kate was big on the boards also and is now fourth best for rebounds in a season with 223, and she is third all time in rebounds in a career with 616.

Kate played defense, too, and is now fifth best in blocks in a season with 30, and now holds the number one spot for blocks in a career with 9 – taking over the top spot held by Becky Perry set in 1988-92 with 88.

She also is eighth in steals in a career with 192, and eighth in assists in a career with 158. And remember, she did all of this in just 3 seasons, due to the injury her junior year.

Carli Wurdeman, a junior this past season, also wrote her name into the record books. Carli was a long range artist shooting the trey ball.

She now shares the school record for 3 pointers in a game with Alexis Lulf with a total of 8. She also had a game this season where she made 5.

Carli is now tied with 3 other girls for points in a game with 29. She also is tied for 7th in 3 point shots in a season with 41, and with a year remaining she is in 6th place in 3-point shots in a career with 75.

Sydney Biesecker, in just her sophomore season, moved into the top 20 in free throw percentage in a season with her 65.9%. That leaves her in the number 19 spot.

Sydney and Carli will be looking to advance even more next year.
