Top Speller Defends Title

The 2019 Kimball School District Spelling Bee was yet another success with top spellers from the fourth through eighth grades competing for the winning honors.

After a nerve-racking first round, spellers settled into the contest at Harry McNees Auditorium in Kimball High School. In the end, eighth-grader and defending champion Xavier Thomas-Lewis came out on top and seventh-grader Shannen Marks was runner-up.

Competing fourth-graders included Isaac Rohde, Carly Norberg, Greg Bingham, Parker Frederick, Rylee Hottell and Trey Cook.

Fifth-grade top spellers were Emma Novotay, Braxton Miller, Bryce Eggli, Amber Childers, Ryker Behrenda and Tyger Bartles.

Sixth-grade top spellers were Lexi Bryson, Aaspyn Tyan, Hunter Funk, Tig Woolington, Karleigh Leslie and Jason Fox.

Seventh-grade spellers were Jasmine Gawith, Landon Norberg, Jessica Terrill and Shannen Marks.

Eighth-graders included Kyle Fraser, Uziel Flores, Gabriel Bartles, Charlotte Hargraves, Angell Helms and Exavier Thomas-Lewis.
