Deon K. Evans

Deon K. Evans, 64, of Kearney, died Monday, February 11, 2019, at CHI Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 16, 2019, at the Faith United Methodist Church in Kearney. The Rev. Jeff Wulf will officiate. Inurnment will be held at Kearney Cemetery at a later date.

Deon K. (Thompson) Evans was born March 14, 1954, in McCook, Nebraska, to Robert E. and Creda E. (Carr) Thompson. She was raised in Hayes Center and was a 1972 graduate of Gering High School.

On May 12, 1973, Deon was united in marriage to Nelson Evans in Great Falls, Montana. To this union one son was blessed.

Deon was an 18-year employee of Kimball Public Schools. She later worked at American National Bank in Kimball. In 2009, Deon moved to Kearney, where she was employed by Walmart and Yellow Van.

Deon loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Gabe (Hannah) Evans; grandchildren, Karter, Kollins and Kice Evans, all of Kearney; sisters, Brenda Brown of Lincoln and Jill (Terry Parks) Gurney of Lincoln; brother, Troy (Kathy) Thompson of Hays, Kansas; as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family.

Deon was preceded in death by her parents.
