Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
The Kimball High Wrestling Team had three medal winners at the Dogger Invitational Tournament held in Lingle, Wyoming, this past weekend.
Jordan Cluff at 120 and Toby McManigal at 220 both finished in the runner-up spot at their respective weights, and Izaak Rohde at 182 brought home sixth place.
Jordan Cluff registered a pin and a 7-4 decision before losing 12-4 in the championship match to a Cheyenne East wrestler.
McManigal also was 2-1 on the day with both of his wins by fall before losing a close 5-3 decision in the title match to his Cheyenne East opponent.
Izaak Rohde ended up with 2 wins and 2 losses at 182 and finished in 6th place.
Connor Cluff, also wrestling at 120 pounds, was also 2 and 2 for the tournament, and Stephen Bateman at 285 was 0-2.
“The Dogger Invitational had a similar outcome this week as we had at Chase County last week,” Kimball coach Wade Brashear said. “We finished with two runner-ups. Toby McManigal had a solid outing at 220. He had a chance to come out as champion, but fell just short in the finals match. I was really proud of how Toby wrestled.
“Jordan Cluff also finished second and is wrestling well, but we need to just get him over the hump. Izaak Rohde had a decent day, taking sixth after injuring himself in the consolation semifinals, injury defaulting down to 6th place. Connor Cluff started to wrestle better, notching two wins on the day.”
The Longhorns are back in action this Saturday at the Mitchell Tournament.
