Kimball Man Faces Strangulation Charge

According to an arrest affidavit, Jarred Neuhalfen of Kimball was arrested at approximately noon on Dec. 10 and charged with a felony count of strangulation.

Andy Bremer, Kimball police chief, was contacted by Kimball High School in reference to an altercation involving a minor. The minor said during the morning of Dec. 9 that his uncle, Jarred Neuhalfen, assaulted him and choked him, causing him not to breathe.

The arrest affidavit states that the minor was attempting to leave his residence when Neuhalfen entered his bedroom and threw the minor to the bed. The two reportedly bumped heads when Neuhalfen picked up the minor and threw him through the wall and then to the ground.

Neuhalfen allegedly chocked the minor until he could not breathe, then pushed him to the floor and choked him again.

The minor said his brother and mother, Misty Coe, were present during the assault.

Bremer observed abrasions on the left side of the minor's neck, which he said were caused by Neuhalfen choking him.

Neuhalfen was placed under arrest, transported to the Kimball County Jail and put in custody. Neuhalfen was advised of his Miranda rights and refused to provide a statement.

Misty Coe said she asked Neuhalfen to speak with the minor and that she heard yelling and left the residence. Coe refused to provide a written statement.
