Hometown bar has a big plans for the next couple months

The bar will be closed on Dec. 20 for their annual employee Christmas party, and closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas as well.

To kick off the new year Beer and Loathing presents Sultry Sounds live on Dec. 31 at 9 p.m. along with the annual Balloon/Money Drop at midnight with over $150 in cash and prizes that will drop after the countdown!

The second annual Meat Raisin’ or Jerky Competition is set for Saturday, Jan. 26. Over $500 in cash and prizes will be given away. There will be loose or ground category and a strip category, and additional categories for beef, pork and other game with live judges. Winners will be announced that night. Positive Spaces has also recently been involved in a meeting of donors for the park and are starting plans to begin the tear down and rebuilding process of City Park in the spring of 2019.

Mayor Keith Prunty plans to contact the welding class at Kimball High School to see if there is any interest in lending their hands in welding parts of the fence. The Civics Class has previously volunteered for any physical hours needed at the park.

35 out of 100 bags of shoes have been collected, the organization that the shoe drive is through, Funds 2 org, is extending the time frame to collect. So dig though your closet, for the shoes that aren’t getting enough attention. Gently worn shoes, no holes, no missing soles and no wheels.

Beer and Loathing is also collecting Main Street Market receipts with receipts totaling an estimated $25,000 to date. The goal is to collect receipts totaling $100,000 for a payback of $1,000.
