VFW Post 2243 raising funds for local memorial

Kimball veterans are raising money for the newly erected memorial in Gotte Park.

The space in front of the flagpoles will eventually be filled in with memorial bricks honoring the county’s veterans.

VFW Post 2243 is selling bricks in two sizes, smaller bricks will sell for $50 with larger bricks sold for $75, each in memory of or in honor of a Kimball County Veteran.

Purchasing a brick to honor a veteran will also help VFW Post 2243 raise much-needed funds for their projects.

Members of the local post are also selling 2019 Calendars for $20.

On the back cover of each calendar is a drawing slip that, once returned, enters the purchaser in a raffle for 365 cash prizes.

Some of the programs the VFW and VFW Auxiliary promote include the UNMET Needs Program that helps active duty troops, MAP, the Military Assistance Program and Veterans in the Classroom, as well as support for veterans homes and hospitals, military funeral honors and several scholarship programs such as the Patriot’s Pen middle school scholarship and the Scout of the Year scholarship.
