Kimball Lady Longhorn season comes to an end

The Lady Longhorns wrapped their season up last Tuesday, Oct. 29, with a loss in sub-districts to the Lady Tigers of Bayard with a final record of 11 wins and 18 losses.

The season seemed to be a struggle with 13 girls on varsity, including five seniors with three of them being starters for the team. During the season the girls definitely had their ups and their downs. Unfortunately ending the season on a down slide.

The week before they faced the Sidney Lady Raiders on Oct. 23. Sidney is ranked by the Nebraska Prep Zone as #8 in Class B with a record of 25-7 on Oct. 29. This is a tough game to come away from and prepare their focus on sub-districts the next Monday.

First round of Sub-Districts came and went for the Lady Longhorns going up against Bayard. The home team took the Lady Tigers through the full five sets but fell, unfortunately. Final scores were 25-14, 21-25, 23-25, 25-23, 8-15.

Unofficial stats were as follows for the loss against Bayard. Kate Reader lead the girls in points with 17 including three aces, 10 digs and nine kills.

Sydney Biesecker was ready for the night dominating with 19 digs, 12 points including two aces, and five kills.

Jenna Greenwood stepped in with 11 kills, eight digs, three blocks, and had three points with one ace serve.

Megan Spicer followed them up with five digs, four points and two kills.

Jaydin Paxton with five points and three kills.

Kiersten Anderson their libero, had ten digs on the night.

Madison Wynne assisted the girls with twenty, 16 digs, six points with one ace.

The girls had quite a few seniors this year, but will see four of their starters coming back next year including Spicer, Paxton, Biesecker and Greenwood. Three of these four girls will begin their junior year next year and the team should look stronger.
