Two wins come at WTCTournament for Lady Horns

Volleyball season is getting down to the nitty gritty. The Lady Longhorns just got done with both of their conference tournaments coming out with three wins and three losses, along with a non tournament game losing to Perkins County. In the SPVA tournament on Oct. 13 they lost to Chase County, beat Perkins County and came back to play Bridgeport and fell to their opponent.

On Tuesday, Oct. 16 the Lady Horns traveled to Grant, to play Perkins County once again this season. Unfortunately this time they lost to the Lady Plainsmen in four sets 21-25 in the first set, 22-25, in the second set 25-13, in the third and 22-25 in the final set.

Unofficial stats show Sydney Biesecker led the team with 10 digs, followed by Kiersten Anderson with nine and Madison Wynne with seven. Wynne had 26 assists and Megan Spicer with three assists. Kate Reader stepped up during the game with 18 kills, Jenna Greenwood with 13, Biesecker and Jaydin Paxton each with three.

Scoring was pretty even across the board with Reader on top with 11 points, Biesecker and Spicer with eight, Greenwood seven, Wynne six, Paxton with three.

On Saturday Oct. 20, Kimball went into the Western Trails Conference Tournament,they first had to face off against Bayard and took a loss, 22-25, 25-18, 9-25. Biesecker led the Lady Longhorns again with 10 digs, Wynne with six, and Spicer with five.

Wynne assisted the ladies 17 times and Spicer with four. Reader put down 11 kills, Greenwood had eight and Biesecker with two. The ladies struggled with serving points again only showing Greenwood 11, Wynne six and Spicer three.

The Lady horns took the next to wins against Morrill and Hemingford. The Morrill win came in two sets 25-16 in the first set and 25-19 in the second. Hemingford in also just two sets, 28-26 in the first set, 25-17 in the second.

Facing Morrill first Greenwood was the leader in scoring having 11 points including three aces and had two kills. Wynne had nine assists, three points with two aces. Reader lead with kills again with eight, she also had five points with four aces! Biesecker had an awesome nine digs, six points including one ace and finished with one kill.

Hemingford was a little bit tougher but the girls finished their conference tournament with the win. Wynne had a whopping 21 assists, five digs, three points with one ace, and two blocks. Anderson had eight digs, Greenwood led the ladies with 14 kills, four points and two aces. Biesecker followed with 12 digs, six points and two kills. Reader had six kills and three points.

The Lady Longhorns had a big opponent to face on Tuesday, Oct. 23 against a top Class B school when Sidney Lady Raiders roll into town for a home game.
