Kimball runners keep improving their times

Kimball's Cross County team ran the course in Gothenburg on Thursday, Sept. 27 with nearly all the Longhorns showing improvement, once again, on their times.

Perhaps the standout at Gothenburg was Brandi Councilman, who shaved more than seven seconds off her time from last week's Alliance meet, going from 27:50 to 20:03.

Councilman ran 112th our of 126 girls and was led in Gothenburg by Chantel Malson, 24th, with a time of 22:21 and Anabela Whitehead, 63rd, with a time of 24:41. Each of these girls improved their times from 22:34 and 26:30 respectively.

More than 200 boys ran in the meet the Kimball boys each showed improvement as well, with Zachery Wagner earning 19th place, and a medal, with a time of 18:34.

Following Wagner, in 34th place, was Thomas Lenzen with a time of 19 minutes flat, Conner Cluff with a time of 21:47, improving from last week's time of 22:42 and Chris Barker with his time of 21:54 improving from 22:24 in Alliance.

Cole Henton ran the course in 22:16, followed by Brady Kilgore in 22:47, Draven Vickery in 23:50, Jordan Cluff in 24:12 and Stephen Bateman in 27:32.

Junior High School runners struggled a bit more with the course and none improved on their previous times.

Shannen Marks ran with a time of 19:26 followed by Sierra Greenwood with a time of 20:10 in a field of 99 young ladies.

Kimball junior high boys competed in a field of 141 runners and were led by Matthew Johnson with a time of 15:08 followed by Joseph Bremer in 16:21 and Braylon Miller in 16:47. Xavier Thomas-Lewis ran the course in 17:20, Joey Johnson in 18:15, new runner Brandon Paxton in 19:26, Shane Zoppelli in 20:42 and Landon Norberg in 22:56.

The Kimball runners will compete in the SPVA Conference in Grant today, Thursday, Oct. 4 and in the WTC Conference in Morrill tomorrow, Friday, Oct. 5 before the District meet in Bridgeport next Thursday, Oct. 11.
