Long week of matches see Potter-Dix ladies 5-6 on the season

Potter Dix Lady Coyotes made the trip to Paxton last Tuesday, Sept. 18 in a triangular tournament facing both Wallace and Wauneta-Palisade.

The Lady Coyotes lost in a two set match to the Broncos in the Wauneta-Palisade game losing 2-0, but came back to take on the Lady Wildcats of Wallace in a two set match winning 2-0.

Coach Michelman’s team then made the trip to Hyannis on Friday, Sept.21, to face off with the Lady Longhorns but fell sort in a three game set 3-0.

A busy week for the Lady Coyotes kept on rolling with yet one more set of games last Saturday, Sept. 22, at home with a five team round robin tournament.

Potter-Dix played Sedgwick County, in the 8 a.m. match and lost in three sets, 25-23, 15-25, 18-25.

The second match of the day pitted the Lady Coyotes against the Crawford Rams. Potter-Dix prevailed 25-19, 12-25, 27-25 over the Rams.

The third game was agains the Morrill Lions. The Lady Coyotes swept the Lions in two sets, 25-15, 25-20.

The final game of the day saw the Lady Coyotes defeat the Peetz Bulldogs, 25-9, 20-25, and 25-14.

Potter-Dix finished the day with a 3-1 record, the same as Sedgwick County, who lost to Crawford, and Crawford who lost to Potter-Dix. Tie breaker rules came into play and the championship was awarded to the Crawford Lady Rams due to total point percentages. Sedgwick County finished 2nd and Potter-Dix finished 3rd.

After the long week of games the Lady Coyotes are now 5-6 on the season.

“The girls continue to improve on a daily basis and are starting to get in a groove now that our schedule is in full swing.” Said Coach Michelman.

“Senior captains Brooke Moench and CC George have stepped up their leadership and are guiding the team on the floor. Net play, from Kelsey Hoffman, Hannah Stahl and Erica Bogert, along with George, Sophomore Mikayla Lee and Freshman Aryanna George, continues to get better. Freshman, Kendal Nielsen and Junior, Virginia Herboldsheimer, have also stepped up and has played well in the back row.”

Homecoming for the Potter-Dix Coyotes is this week, and the Lady Coyotes will be taking on Creek Valley at home with games starting at 4:30, tomorrow, Friday, Sept. 28.

Potter-Dix played at South Platte on Tuesday, information was not available at time of press.
