Hospital Foundation Golf Classic huge success

The 27th annual Kimball Hospital Foundation Golf Classic attracted 120 golfers, with 30 four-person teams taking part in the Saturday event held at the Four Winds Golf Course this past weekend. Kerry Ferguson, the Director of the Kimball Hospital Foundation, said, "This was one of our largest field of entries over the years and I want to personally thank everyone who played as well as all of the volunteers who worked hard to help make it a success. The weather held up until all golfers were done and off the course, and that was a blessing. I was very pleased with the way everything went," he said.

The Foundation will use the funds raised from this year's event to help purchase a new nurse call system, which will benefit the patients at Kimball Health Services. All golfers were treated to a lunch at the WinBreak Restaurant prior to golf, and then a buffet dinner at the conclusion of play. All golfers also received a Callaway custom Foundation Golf Classic polo golf shirt, along with other handouts, and played for flag prizes on each and every hole. Wolf Automotive sponsored some awesome chances for prizes for any hole-in-one on the day, but this didn't happen.

Along with all of the many prizes awarded for play in the scramble, players also qualified for a chance to advance to the finals in the putting contest and the opportunity to win a prize of $200, that also went unclaimed, as no one made the championship putt in the putt-off. There was a putting contest drawing for anyone purchasing drawing tickets and Jeri Ferguson won a Drone Quadricopter that was donated by Spectrum Reach.

There were other attractive raffle prizes drawn for, including, a Treager Pro pellet grill donated by Hometown Hardware, which also included some Treager cooking utensils, pellets and rub, that were co-sponsored by Anderson Crude Transportation and Adelaide's, the new cream liquor manufacturer in Kimball, and Nancy Garrett had the winning ticket. Nan Garrett was the winner of the two top prizes given out, as she had no sooner accepted the win of the Treager Grill, than her name was drawn as a winner of one of the three Samsung 58 inch TV's donated by Ken and Cynthia Hunter! It goes to show you get awarded for living right and for purchasing raffle tickets! Sherry Winstrom and Larry Walker also won TV's with their lucky numbers drawn from the box.

Out on the golf course, the winning team was the team of Chuck Christensen, Kenny Greenwood, Henry Heeg and Lloyd Howard, shooting a round of 55 to end up 17 strokes under par. They were awarded four gift baskets from Carol's Nut List, complete with bottles of wine from Sportsman's Liquor. The second place team shot 58 to finish 3 strokes back of the winners, was the team of Lanny Larson, Scott Dvorak, Nate Dvorak and Jeremy Wiekhorst. Third place went to the team of Dillon Wise, Jacob Walker, Gavin Howell and Canden Ehler, with their round of 60.

With the large field of entries, Four Winds Pro Chad Wise, sent out a plea for additional golf carts and the public responded with the use of their own personal carts and Chad said, "Please thank all of those good people who allowed us to use their carts to make sure everyone had wheels. I truly appreciate them," he said. The comments on the Four Winds Golf Course and its beauty and prime condition were many, and thanks should be directed to Jeremy Williams and his staff. Four Winds Pro, Chad Wise, and his staff made sure all golfers had what they needed and helped handle the scoring, etc. Kerry Ferguson said with the success of this annual tournament, at this time, he certainly plans on getting ready for the 28th annual to be held next year.
