Gilliand Gazebo moved to new location

About 10 years ago, Wilma Gilland told her husband Bruce, "I need a structure of some kind where I can meet with my kids when we have golf practices and when we hold our lunches ect.," Bruce, the man who designed and did a majority of the construction of the Four Winds Golf Course, as well as, the scoreboard by the Pro Shop said, "Alright, I will build you something." That something was the Gilliand Gazebo, which sat for the past 10 years or so down by the Trap Shoot building, near the free three hole youth practice range. On July 6, 2018, the Gazebo took a trip to its new resting location next to the Four Winds Pro Shop.

Pat O'Brien, a member of the Kimball Recreation Board, was one who helped spearhead the move as it was not seeing much use since Wilma had retired from the organizing and overseeing her youth instruction programs. With the help of Jeremy Williams and his crew, a site was provided just east of the Pro Shop, but a lot of donated help and labor from good people like Shane Hays Roofing and Z & S Construction, made it all happen, and just in time for it to be used this past weekend for the big Vince's Corner two-day golf tournament. Shane Hays had his crews put in the cement foundation and Z & S handled the moving and placing of the Gazebo.

Through the years, it had also been used as a background for weddings, along with the youth golf area, but it had not seen much use the last couple of years. It already saw a lot of use this past weekend and will be used on a daily basis for golfers to rest and refresh and breaks from their play. A big thank you to all involved in the moving of the Gilliland Gazebo.
