NHS inducts new members at KHS

The National Honor Society inducted three new members from Kimball High School's sophomore and junior classes on Monday, April 23.

Sophomores, Alexander Flores and Carli Wurdeman, joined, junior Hailey Paxton, in receiving this honor.

National Honor Society (NHS) is a group for students that embody time-honored characteristics, such as scholarship, leadership, character and service.

Current members demonstrated each of these traits throughout the ceremony. Kennedy Lewis touched on the meaning of scholarship and Justine on what leadership is. Later, Paycen Harroun shared what it means to have character, and finally, Leisha Casimiro lit the last candle after speaking to the audience about the service of NHS.

Members consisted of seniors Victoria Huff, Paycen Harroun, Jaden Mohr, Leisha Casimero, Kennedy Lewis, Justine Heeg, Alex Reader and Nicholas Thomas-Lewis, as well as, juniors Kate Reader, Madison Wynne, Toby McManigal, Kiersten Anderson, Justine Heeg and Alex Reader.

NHS looks for the whole student. The attitude, dedication, and effort that the students show inside and outside of the classroom. This year, three students were chosen for this honorable distinction.

Following the ceremony, parents, friends and school staff gathered to congratulate everyone and enjoy refreshments.

"I was really surprised that I made it, but am now excited to what it holds," said Alexander Flores.

The NHS students are excited for their upcoming trip next week. Great job KHS students. We are all proud of you!
