Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First

Local family is grateful for community support

One local man has experienced a little taste from three neighboring states. Born in Littleton Colorado, then attended college at the University of Wyoming in Laramie, in 2009-2014. During college Zack Donnan met a couple young men from Kimball and became close friends, Brad Weisbrook and Jordan Stahla. After College the two had a large input on the life-changing decision Donnan was about to make, taking him into accepting a job at Clean Harbors in Kimball and moving his family, his girlfriend, Merissa and her now six-year old daughter Mikyla.

Donnan started work at Clean Harbors in September of 2014. Shortly after making the move to Kimball, Donnan and Merissa decided it was time to get married, by Paster Hod Voltjes of the Kimball Evangelical-Free Church.

In November of 2015, Zack and Merissa welcomed their son Bridger, followed by newest addition daughter, Lydia, just this last October. "My family is a huge part of my life," said Donnan.

On March 26, Donnan was hit by a car while on his motorcycle in Cheyenne. He was thrown 98 feet, while his wife and two youngest children were in the car behind him. "I lost most of my lower left leg, and am still currently recovering. I am so lucky that worse was not done," he added.

"Superhero wife" a term Donnan uses to refer to Merissa, "She handles everything, from taking care of me and the kids, to all the insurance business," Donnan added.

Along with his wife and family, Donnan can't express enough thanks and gratituide from all of the community members and the church.

"I really want everyone to take time and be grateful for the people in the Kimball area, it shows a lot coming from a bigger town to a smaller community,"

This Saturday May, 5 at the 4-H Building, Dave Stahla, along with the Stahla Ford Band, will be hosting a fundraising event to help the Donnan family with upcoming medical bills as Zack is still facing a long road ahead. Live music from the Stahla Ford Band, along with a live auction and cash bar and a pulled pork supper. The event will start at 6 p.m. wrapping up about 11.

All the get well wishes and strength to Zack Donnan and his family.
