Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
A good day on the track and in the field for the Kimball Junior High girl’s track team at the Bayard Invite this past Monday. Kimball finished runner-up and just 9.5 points back of the winning Bridgeport team in the final standings of the 17 school field. The final point totals were not sent out.
An outstanding day for Kaitlin Heeg, who won the triple jump at 27’10”, the long jump at 13’10” and ran 5th in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 20.0 seconds.
Kimball scored very strong in the jumps as, not only did Heeg win the triple jump, but Kimball took the top 3 spots with Amy Birkhofer 2nd at 27’1” and Tianna Stierwalt 3rd at 26’7.5”. Stierwalt was also 3rd in the long jump at 13’2.5”.
Kimball picked up two places in the shotput with Amy Birkhofer 4th at 24’6” and Sarinda Bateman 5th at 24’3”. On the track, Chantel Malson ran 3rd in the 100 meter dash with a time of 14.0 seconds flat.
Malson also ran 6th in the 200 in 31.90. Caelyn Long was 3rd in the 1200 meter run clocking 4:45. Maddie Merryfield ran 5th in the 200 hurdles in 37.90. The 4x100 relay team of Payton Wise, Stierwalt, Birkhofer and Malson ran 3rd in 59.60.
A tough day for the Kimball boys with only one place on the day with Azael Flores taking 3rd place in the shotput with his best shove of 35’5.5”.
The Kimball Junior High was right back in action this past Wednesday at the Potter-Dix Invite being held at the Kimball track site.
