Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First

Banner County short on numbers but big on performance

Banner County High has only six athletes out for track this spring, but those six athletes perform at a high level! At the Kimball Invite Saturday, the Lady Wildcats scored 47 points. McKenna Dahlgrin won both of the weight events, taking the shot put with a heave of 36'7.75", over 2 feet better than 2nd place, and destroyed the rest of the field in the discus with her winning throw of 110'1.5" with 2nd place at 95'6.5".

The Knisley sisters also had stand-out performances in the distance events with Cheyanne winning the 1600 in 6:44.60 and finishing 2nd in the 3200 in 14:38.80. Courtney Knisley ran 3rd in the 3200 in 15:12 and 5th in the 1600 in 7:08.10. Aubrey Clement took 6th in the 100 hurdles with her time of 23.10.

Deven Sullivan scored all 18 of the Banner County boy's points, winning the 1600 meter run in 5:22.30 and taking 2nd in the 3200 meter run in 11:24.70.

Banner County High Coach Kari Gifford said, "This group of young people are so much fun to work with as they work so hard at doing their best." The Wildcats will be back in action today (Thursday) at the Bayard C-D meet.
