Friendly competition for fireworks fundraiser

March 15, 2018

When we talk about Kimball, tradition comes to mind! Kimball and surrounding communities have an evening of amazing pyrotechnics for years. The locations have changed over the years from Horseshoe Hill, Oliver Reservoir, and the High School; but there has always been some great explosions to celebrate the 4th of July.

The Kimball Volunteer Fire Department spends $5,000-$7,000 to give a great event year-after-year. The past two years, Karen Robinson, of Larsen’s Jewelry Store, graciously raised money from businesses so that Kimball could once again enjoy the 4th of July Fireworks display.

This year consumers will find a Fireworks Spare Change jar at all of the following businesses: Woody’s Liquor Store, Sportsman’s Liquor Store, Larsen’s Jewelry, Vince’s Corner, Hometown Hardware, Kimball Auto Parts, Franks NAPA, Phoenix Conoco, Main Street Market, and Carol’s Nut List.

The business that collect the most change from their customers or employees will receive $100 free advertising from the Western Nebraska Observer.

Collected funds will be tallied in April and the businesses in first, second and third place at that time will appear in the Western Nebraska Observer. Donation jars will be out until May 30, 2018.

Citizens can contribute larger donations at FirsTier Bank and ask for the donation to be added to the 4th of July Fireworks Fund.

Organizers for the fundraiser wish to thank those who have already contributed spare chang, as well as, the businesses that have agreed to the friendly fundraising competition.
