Kimball JV teams get wins over Sutherland

Kimball’s junior varsity teams provided the most excitement for Kimball fans Friday evening as they picked up wins over visiting Sutherland.

The Kimball JV girls won a 2 quarter game that went into overtime, 22-20. Emma Martin and Jenna Greenwood both had 5 points with Martin hitting a trey. Sydney Biesecker and Sam Bemis had 4 each, and Lacey Klinkhammer and Megan Spicer both had 2.

In the boy’s JV game, Kimball won 41-28 in 3 quarters of play. Austin lulf hit a pair of treys and scored 8 points. Corey Travis had 8, Brayden Tyan 8, Sam Cajero 5 with 1 trey, Javon Coyle 4, Colton Mielke 3 with a trey, Jacob Withrow 3 with a trey, and Cole Henton 2.

Kimball Did not fare as well at North Platte Saturday with the girls losing 41-34 and they boys falling 67-54.

In the girls game Megan Spicer was high with 8, Sydney Biesecker had 6, Emma Martin 5 with a trey, Sam Bemis 5, Jenna Greenwood 4, and Raven Johnson, Lacey Klinkhammer, and Ashlynn Guzman all had 2 points each.

A complete scoring account for the boys is not available as the Kimball score book turned up missing. Top scorer was Brayden Tayan with 14, Beau Hanks with 10, Withrow 8, Cajero and Coyle 7 each, and Henton 6. The JV boys sport a win-loss record now of 8-3 while the JV girls are 6-6 on the season.

The Kimball boys split the past weekend of action losing at Pine Bluffs 53-43 and winning at home against Hemingford 74-61.

The Horns had only 7 boys at Pine, but gave a good effort. Austin Lulf and Sam Cajero shared scoring honors for Kimball with 13 each. Both hit 1 trey and Lulf was 4/4 at the foul line. Beau Hanks had 8, Jacob Withrow 5 and Brayden Tyan 4.

Kimball really clicked against Hemingford with 8 players getting into the scoring columns. Tyan led with 16 with 1 trey, Lulf had 13 with a trey. Cajero had 13, Hanks 11 with a trey, Jaren Winstrom 8 with a trey, Withrow 7, Javon Coyle 4 and Cole Henton 2. The Kimball boys’ JV team is now 9-4 on the season, with Mitchell left on their schedule this Friday night.

The Kimball girls lost 30-22 in JV play with Pine Bluffs. “We needed to make some free throws and some bunny shots,” said Coach Tiffany Johnson. Megan Spicer had 5 points, Sam Bemis 4, Carli Wurdeman 3, Jenna Greenwood 2, Lacey Klinkhammer 2, Bailie Brower 2, Jaydin Paxton 2, Madison Wynne 1 and Raven Johnson 1.

An easy win for Kimball with Hemingford with Kimball winning 33-4 in a 2 quarter contest. Greenwood had 8 with 1 trey, Brower 6, Emma Martin and Klinkhammer 4 each, Sydney Biesecker 2, Bemis 2, Johnson 2, Spicer 2, Paxton 2 and Sheridan Magninie 1. The Kimball girls closed out their JV season at 7 wins and 7 losses.
