Kimball Wrestlers Place Fourth at Mitchell Invite

A good effort by the Kimball High Wrestlers as they had four wrestlers finish in the medal grouping led by senior Garrett Pedersen's championship at 126 pounds, with the Horns finishing 6th in the team standings of the 12 school field.

Bridgeport was the team champion with 176.5 points, edging out Mitchell with 158 and Morrill with 125. Kimball scored 59 points to finish in the upper half of the team standings. Coach Wade Brashear said, "We wrestled well, although the overall number of participants was down. Garrett Pedersen took first at 126 pounds, earring a big win over a district opponent in the title match. Connor Cluff also performed well, earning a 2nd place at 120. Senior Jaden Mohr wrestled back to earn a 3rd place finish at 132. In addition, newcomer, Isaac Rohde, placed 4th at 220. Stephen Bateman did not end up placing, but wrestled solid in the tournament's toughest bracket of 195, and avenged a loss from earlier in the season. Also, heavyweight Toby McManigal, returned to competition wrestling for the first time in over a year, and that was a nice thing to see."

Pedersen was wrestling up on weight class from his usual 120 and received a bye before going 2-0 on the mats. Cluff was also up a weight class in finishing 2nd at 120 and went by bye, and 1-1 on the day. Jaden Mohr also had a bye and finished out at 2-1. Bateman was 1-2, Rohde 2-2, and McManigal 0-2.

The Longhorns are in action today (Thursday) at Grant to compete in the SPVA Conference Tournament.

Congrats going out to Banner County High's Deven Sullivan for his 2nd place finish in the 152 pound weight class.
