County officials tout NACO conference

Following a recent NACO conference that the Commissioners, as well as others, in the county offices attended, Robert Jenner the Veterans Service Officer had nothing but good things to say.

“The meeting was really beneficial,” Jenner added he was able to meet with other officers and was able to ask new, arising questions. “I have now found better ways of doing some things,” he said.

Jenner also breifly spoke about a new program that he will discuss further at the next Commissioners meeting set for Feb., 6 with Christy Warner County Transit Services Administrator.

The tentative date for the Resource Fair is on the books for April 12, but is subject to change. Jenner hopes to have around 25 in attendance this year after having 17 last year.

Kimball County Transit Service is going strong and taking great care of its residents.

From just the first two weeks of January, there were 15 rides in 15 days. This number only includes the out-of-town, newly offered, Medicaid rides.

“Taking on Medicaid is a good decision for us (the county)” said Warner. “It is more paperwork and phone calls for us but it’s worth the money,” she added.

From July through December the County Transit Service has given 2844 rides, and has also increased revenue hours from 1343 to 3218.
