Dave Stairs

Memorial Services for Dave Stairs, age 65, of Chambers will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January, 6, 2018 at Faith Community Church in O'Neill with Reverend Paul Harder officiating. Memorial Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, January 5, 2018 at Faith Community Church in O'Neill. David passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at Avera St. Anthony's Hospital in O'Neill.

Memorials may be made to the family for future designation. Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill is in charge of arrangements.

David Dillon Stairs was born on June 10, 1952, in Kimball, NE, to Russel and Marilyn (Dillon) Stairs. He graduated from Kimball High School in 1970. He then attended Chadron State College, where he met Suzanne Lorenz at the front desk of her dorm. The two were married on May 25, 1974 in Hot Springs, SD, and to this union, 2 children were born: Kevin and Kristi. David graduated from Chadron State College in 1975.

They moved to Lodgepole where he taught for two years. Then they moved to Chambers in 1977 and David taught Industrial Technology, and in recent years, taught Drivers' Education. His students won the Wayne Tech Day 4 years in a row. He was also the Assistant Coach for Football and Track, as well as coaching Baseball and Softball.

Dave was a Cub Scout Member and, in later years, a Leader for the Boy Scouts of America for many years, as well as a member of Faith Community Church in O'Neill. He had many hobbies, including coin and stamp collecting, wood working, camping, restoring cars and spending time with his family, especially his grandkids. He was always building things for his family and friends. Dave was also an avid Huskers fan. He loved to view wildlife, and enjoyed his many trips to visit the Black Hills.

Dave is survived by his wife of 43 years, Suzanne Stairs of Chambers; two children, Kevin Stairs and friend, Christy Dunn, of Rapid City, Kristi Krepel and husband, Aaron, of Fontanelle, NE; two grandchildren, Dylan and Harper Krepel; two sisters, Diane (David) Waters of McMinnville, OR, Sharon (Jerry) Wiliams of Kimball, NE; one brother, Bill (Teri) Stairs of Mica, WA; many nieces and nephews.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents and step-father.
