Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First

Youth league basketball begins

Youngsters basketball gets underway with the first games set for next weekend.

The WyoBraska League kicks things off for fourth, fifth and sixth grade boys on Jan. 6. The season will consist of three Saturday game days, Jan. 6, Jan. 20, and Feb. 3, with two games being played each Saturday.

For the fourth, fifth, and sixth grade girls, play starts on Jan. 10 and games will be played opposite weekends of the boys.

The Kimball boys will travel to Scottsbluff/Lake Minatare for the first weekend of play. The Kimball sixth grade boys will start things off at 9 a.m. in Minatare against Bayard team 2. Following this game will be Kimball’s fourth graders in a game facing Sidney at 10:10. At 11:10 the sixth graders will play their second game of the day in Scottsbluff, against Scottsbluff themselves. At 1:20, back in Minatare, the fifth grade team will face off with Scottsbluff team 2. At 2:20 the fourth grade team will play their second and last game of the day in Scottsbluff against Scottsbluff team 4. At 3:30 in that same gym the fifth grade boys will wrap up their day with the last game facing Scottsbluff team 1.

A schedule for the girls first games will come next week.

Good luck to all three teams this weekend.
