Lady Cats fell to Garden County in season opener

Banner County girls basketball had their first game at home last Friday night with Garden County. Despite a good battle, the Lady Wildcats were out-scored in that game 32-26.

“The girls played hard but it was difficult for us to overcome having three girls foul out and another girl going down with an injury,” Head Coach Chad Miller said.

“With only seven girls on the roster, we only had playing time from four girls for the majority of the fourth quarter, then only three players for about two minutes in the middle of the last period when one of them got injured,” added Miller.

On the bright side of things Courtney Knisley played great, especially in the fourth quarter when the Wildcats really needed her. Knisely led Banner County in just about every statistical category, including; 10 points, and 13 rebounds for a double double. Knisley also added five steals, three assists, and two blocks. Cheyanne Knisley put eight points on the board, Jadyn Cross also added five points Rylie Mason added two and Emily Singleton with one.

Banner County hosted the Minatare Indians Tuesday, Dec. 5. No information was available at time of press.

The Wildcats are traveling today, Thursday, for a matchup againts Bayard, and then will be on the road again Saturday, Dec. 9 to face-off with Pawnee High School in Grover, Colo., for a 2 p.m. start.
