Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First

Longhorn runners compete at two conferences back-to-back

Kimball Cross Country got their share of a workout this past week as the teams headed into Thursday to run their SPVA Conference Meet, and then right back at it on Friday, for their WTC Conference Meet.

For the SPVA Meet, ninth place and medaling was Thomas Lenzen with a time of 19:02. Kaden Adrian followed, outside the hardware, with a time of 20:06, Garrett Pedersen 21:23, Nicholas Thomas-Lewis with a time of 21:23, Brady Kilgore 21:24, Cole Henton 22:53, Alexander Flores 25:03, Jordan Cluff 25:04 and Christopher Barker 25:29.

For the girl runners at the SPVA Meet, Brandi Councilman 27:18, and Kaylynn Nelson with a time of 31:49.

For the WTC Conference Meet, High School boys times were: Thomas Lenzen 20:31, Garrett Pedersen 20:58, Kaden Adrian 21:11, Nicholas Thomas-Lewis 22:01, Cole Henton 23:29, Alexander Flores 25:00 Jordan Cluff 26:22, Chris Baker 26:26, and Brady Kilgore with 26:28. Kilgore injured his knee while running but was determined to finish.

High school girls, Brandi Councilman ran a time of 26:43, and Kaylyn Nelson ran a time of 31:47.

Junior High boys ended the season on a high note, Trey Schindler ran a time of 10:34, James McGinnis with a time of 11:00, Xavier Thomas-Lewis 12:34, Gideon Casimiro with a time of 12:39.

Junior High girls placed second as a team, winning the girls race was Chantel Malson with a 10:02, placing third was Caelyn Long with a 10:18, Anabela Whitehead had a time of 11:04, Louise Tambanillo with a time of 13:10 and Alycia Vrbas with a time of 13:28.

As the Junior High runners finished off their season at WTC Coach Johnson added how impressed she was with all the effort they put in this season, "we really enjoy having them, and we look forward to having them all back next year."

Along with the Junior High runners the JV boys also finished out their season at WTC, Johnson added she hopes they will all join us again next year and how much she is looking forward to what they can contribute.

Varsity teams are off to districts today, Thursday, in Bayard with a start time of 2:00. "We are excited to see what today brings and have been working hard all week to, but our best effort in on the course."

Senior Cross Country runners were also honored during Kimball's home football game last Friday against Bayard. Seniors for the Cross Country runners include Alex Reader, Kaylyn Nelson, Kaden Adrian, Garrett Pedersen, Nicholas Thomas-Lewis.
