Jock Talk

Kimball suffered one more loss this past Friday losing 35-13 to visiting Bayard, but this was one of those games where Kimball actually dominated in many categories but still came up short on the scoreboard.

A big night for Mitch McKibbon, Bayard quarterback, who played a part in all of the Tiger’s scoring. McKibbon ran for 3 touchdowns and passed for 2 more while amassing 167 yards rushing on 13 carries and connecting on 11 of 19 passes for 82 yards.

Izaac Reuter was busy throwing the football and completed 19 of 33 attempts for 187 yards with 1 touchdown and 2 interceptions. Bayard won the ground game with 214 yards rushing to Kimball’s 91. The Horns also hurt their own cause with 10 penalties for 85 yards while Bayard held their penalties to 4 for 40 yards.

Top rusher for Kimball once again was Jake Jenkins with 64 yards on 17 carries. Zane Anthony had 3 carries for 28 yards and a 9.3 yard average. Jenkins scored on a 6 yard run and Kole Bush kicked the PAT. Anthony got the other Kimball TD on a 14 yard pass from Reuter.

Anthony had a big night receiving with 9 catches for 99 yards and an 11 yard per catch average with 1 touchdown. Colton Mielke had 3 catches for 22 yards, Austin Lulf 2 for 38 yards, Christian Allen-Van Pelt 2 for 25 yards, and Paycen Harroun 1 for 6 yards.

Andrew McCloud had a good night on defense with 1 solo stop and 9 assisted tackles. Harroun was 2 and 5, Corey Travis 1 and 7 with 1.5 tackles for loss, Anthony was 2 and 4 with 1 interception, Reuter was 1 and 5, Bush 2 and 3, and Ethan Ratzlaff in on 7 assists.

Kimball punted only once with Allen-Van Pelt getting one off for 31 yards. Bayard punted 4 times, Anthony had 2 kick returns for 46 yards, Mielke 1 for 30, and Lulf 2 for 27 yards.

Two tough contests remain on the schedule for the Horns with North Platte St Pats coming to town this Friday night for a 6 p.m. Kickoff. It is Homecoming night and the FFA will feed you fans with a Taco Feed. Kimball closes out the season October 20th with a long trip to state ranked Valentine.
