Carol J. Pinkerton

Carol J. Pinkerton, 84, died at her home in Anthem, Arizona, on June 22, 2017, after a lengthy illness. A private celebration of life will be held in Anthem at a later date.

Carol Jean (Patterson) Pinkerton was born in Springfield, Illinois on December 8, 1932, the daughter of Chester L and Hazel (Turner) Patterson. She moved to Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 8, graduating from Lincoln High School in 1950, and from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1954, with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education.

Carol married Robert John Pinkerton on July 24, 1954 in Lincoln. The couple moved to Kimball that summer before relocating to San Antonio, Texas, where Bob was stationed in the Air Force. While in San Antonio, Carol taught kindergarten. The couple returned to Kimball in 1956. For 30 years, Carol was co-publisher of the Western Nebraska Observer with Bob.

Carol loved homemaking, cooking, sewing, crafting, and gardening and was happiest when at home, surrounded by her family. In 1958, Carol put her homemaking skills to the test, entering the Mrs. Nebraska Contest in Lincoln, where she was first runner-up. She and Bob traveled extensively throughout their married lives, and shared a love of the Nebraska Cornhuskers. She was also an avid fan of professional golf and professional football.

Survivors include Carol's husband of 62 years, Bob; daughters Becky (Hoke) MacMillan, Pam (Fred) Mavroudis, Linda Davis (partner Andy Fullmer), and Sherry (Alex) Blanche; grandchildren Ryan and Chris Klemt, Tyler Davis, Whitney Davis Eastwood, Hilary Davis Bainbridge, and Alex Blanche IV; step-granddaughters Kim Davis Wyland and Allison Davis Wheeler; and step-grandson, Brian Mavroudis. In addition, Carol is survived by numerous great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and by her brother Robert Spence Patterson. In Memoriam donations may be made in Carol's honor to Kimball Hospital Foundation, 505 S Burg Street, Kimball, NE 69145-1313.
