Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First

Additional activities planned for annual Oliver Reservoir 5K

Funds raised will be earmarked to help area veterans

What better way to kick of the 4th of July holiday than with a fun day at the lake while supporting your local veterans office?

For several years Kelleigh Huff organized the Oliver Reservoir Fun Run, but when she relocated, Sheana Hendrickson decided to step up and take over organizing this day full of summer fun to help raise money for the local Veterans.

With the help of Kimball Police Chief Andy Bremer, Kimball Mayor Keith Prunty and Kristopher Nitz, she has accomplished just that.

“I think the whole event will be great, I hope to make this an annual thing.” said Hendrickson, who added that Oliver Reservoir is the perfect spot for outdoor community events.

This year there will be a 5k walk/run, a 1 mile kid race, for children 10 and under with free entry, a kayak race, you must provide the kayak, as well as a water balloon fight to help you cool off. The local VFW Post #2243 will serve lunch.

Start times for all events are still in the planing process but anyone interested is asked to pre-register up until June 30. Registration will be available the day of the event, but fees will increase.

Funds raised will go to help Veteran’s with medical bills, funeral costs, food, clothing and much more.

Anyone who would like to volunteer to help out with this great event and support our community is welcome.
