Kimball County has a new tool to Live Healthy

Kimball County residents are now able to get discount prescriptions, medical, vision and dental services through the Live Healthy: U.S. Counties Program.

The program, offered through the National Association of Counties (NACo), is free to residents of NACo member counties such as Kimball, and everyone is accepted.

Live Healthy has been offered to NACo member counties since 2004, and though Kimball became a member county earlier this year, the local program is not yet fully operational, according to Andrew Goldschmidt, NACo Director of Membership and Marketing for Live Healthy.

“We are still working through some of the logistics,” Goldschmidt said. “It is up to the county to decide on the roll out timeline.”

However, with web access, Kimball County residents don’t have to wait. Visit nacorx.org to get a discount prescription card instantly, find options for additional services and see a list of participating providers nearby. Once the discount card is printed, users can begin receiving immediate discounts from participating providers and pharmacies.

“There will be more options for residents in Kimball County without web access soon,” Goldschmidt said.

Through this program, more than 46 million prescriptions have been filled for residents in 1,400 counties across the nation at a savings of more than $600 million.

Savings for additional health services, with subscriptions, range from 15 – 70 percent off. An optional reimbursement fee option can earn the county $1 every time a resident uses the prescription card to save money.

This program is not insurance, rather it provides discounts for health and dental procedures and supplies, including prescriptions through a nationwide network of more than 68,000 pharmacies, 54,000 optometrists, 8,000 ophthalmologists, and 110,000 general dentists and specialists.

In addition to discounted prescription medication, subscribers can receive discounted dental care, vision care, LASIK and PRK vision procedures, hearing aids, hearing screenings, prepaid lab work, prepaid diagnostic imaging and diabetic supplies.

“I just think that this is a great program for the people in our county,” Kimball County Commissioner Daria Anderson-Faden said.
