Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First

Jock Talk

The area spring sports schedule is moving along, that is when the weather permits. The Kimball High track team didn’t get a meet in this past week when the Mitchell George Calvert meet was called off due to bad weather. A few of the Kimball tracksters got some competition at the Best of the West meet in Scottsbluff this past Tuesday despite cold weather. We will talk about their performances in next week’s Observer Sports.

Tomorrow (Friday) the Kimball High track team is off to Hershey for the SPVA conference meet with a 10 a.m. start time listed on the schedule. The Kimball Junior High track team will be in action at the Pine Bluffs Invite tomorrow with a 9 a.m. start, and the Kimball High golf team will be at Sutherland for the SPVA conference tournament, then on Saturday, they go to Mitchell for the Western Trails conf tournament. Come on sunshine, let’s fool those weather forecasters.

One other item on the schedule you might be interested in is the annual Booster Club Awards Night that is coming up this Tuesday, May 2, at 6 p.m. at the Kimball High School. This is always an interesting evening as the athletes receive special awards, and scholarship announcements. There will also be more inductions into the Booster Club Hall of Fame, and the coaches will give short talks about their season, and usually there is a video presentation to enjoy and of course, some food.

With the badly needed moisture we have received the Four Winds Golf Course is looking great. Anyone interested in playing in a league this summer should contact Chad Wise out at the Four winds Pro Shop and he can direct you how to proceed farther. Of course there is open golf every day and a special twilight rate on the weekends. Get out and enjoy one of the finest golf courses in Nebraska.
