Lady Coyotes charted win despite missing players

Though the Potter-Dix girls are still missing teammate Audrey Juelfs, and were also missing starting guard Payge Hoffman during the rivalry game against Leyton, they added another win to their season, bringing them to 3-2.

According to coach Jeff Einspahr, the Lady Coyotes played very well against the Lady Warriors on Tuesday, Dec. 13.

"We had to adjust to playing against a defense designed to take away one of our strengths, our inside presence of Alexus Rozelle and Trinity Langley," Einspahr said. "The Lady Coyotes were patient moving the ball looking for the best shot and were able to do so as the team shot 46% from the floor on the night."

Alexus Rozelle logged another double double with 13 points and 10 rebounds on the night while Trinity Langley led with 18 points, six rebounds and five steals.

"Alexus Rozelle and Trinity Langley had big nights in the paint scoring 31 of the teams 45 points on 13 of 28 shooting," Einspahr added. "Dawson has done a great job moving to the point guard position with our normal point guard, Audrey Juelfs, still unable to play. Dawson's ability to take on a new role and do it well shows her talent and commitment to do whatever it takes to help the team."

Sharman added nine points to the Coyote board and logged five assists and four steals in the point guard position.

Brooke Moench contributed three points and five assists while teammate Sierra Wheelock netted two points and grabbed three rebounds.

"Our two sophomore guards, Brooke Moench and Sierra Wheelock, both stepped in and played very well as we held Leyton to just 12 points with 6 minutes to go in the game," Einspahr said.

Potter-Dix 13 10 9 13 – 45

Leyton 4 6 2 12 – 24

The Lady Coyotes played an away game against the Caliche Buffaloes (2-3) on Monday, Dec. 19.
