Lady Coyotes add two more to the win column

The Potter-Dix Lady Coyotes had a winning streak last week first at Creek Valley on Dec. 9 for a 36-31 win.

No statistics were available for this game, but despite the loss of returning starter Audrey Juelfs, the team battled to the end, allowing the Storm to best them in just one of the four quarters.

Creek Valley 4 7 7 13 – 31

Potter-Dix 7 5 8 16 – 36

Following that close game on Friday, the Lady Coyotes hosted Paxton on Saturday, Dec. 10 and pulled out another victory, 56-26.

Again, no statistics were available, but coach Jeff Einspahr shared that Paxton was playing a younger team and was missing their senior post player, Darby O'Connor (5'11"), making the Coyotes job a bit easier.

"We were able to take advantage of that and score in the paint," Einspahr said. "With Audrey Juelfs out our seniors Alexus Rozelle and Dawson Sharman stepped up and did a great job bringing the ball up the court and running our offense."

Juelfs return date is unknown at this time.

Rozelle earned her double double with 23 points and 12 rebounds, according to Einspahr while Dawson chipped in 15 points.

Starting guard Payge Hoffman was out of the game against Paxton as well, and is not expected to return for the remaining two games of this calendar year.

"Our post, Trinity Langley, played a great game defensively with 4 blocks and 13 points," Einspahr added. "Our Sophomore guards Sierra Wheelock and Brooke Moench both started with the absence of Audrey and Payge and filled in nicely for us, playing great defense and hustling throughout the game."

Paxton 8 3 4 11 – 26

Potter-Dix 13 18 13 12 – 56

The Potter-Dix girls played a rivalry game against the Leyton Warriors on Tuesday, Dec. 13 and will play again tomorrow, Friday, Dec. 16 in Caliche, Colo.
