Kimball wrestlers finish third at Banner County Tournament

The Kimball High Wrestling team had their best finish as a team this season, placing third in the 13 school field at the Banner County Tournament held this past Saturday. Bridgeport won the team title with 160.5 points with Southeast runner-up with 105.5 and Kimball finished third with 59.5.

Coach Wade Brashear said, "As a whole, it was the best wrestling we have shown all season. Jordan Cluff finished second on the day at 106 pounds with a record of 4-1. Trevor Ryschon was second at 120 at 3-2. Logan Stahla was third at 138, losing a tough over-time match and going 3-2 on the day. We definitely showed improvement on our toughness and conditioning. As the season moves forward I believe that we will see lots of growth and gains from this group and we are excited to prove we can compete at a high level."

Cluff registered four pins before losing by fall to Benavides of Bridgeport in the title match. At 113, Zavyer White had a tough day, losing five matches. At 120, Ryschon had two pins, a technical fall, and a major decision and lost by fall. Pedersen, also at 120, won twice by fall but also lost to teammate Ryschon by decision. Jaden Mohr at 132 was winless on the day at 0-5. Stahla at 138 had three pins and two losses by fall. Toby McManigal at 170 registered a 27 second fall but lost three matches by fall. Stephen Bateman at 182 was 1-3 on the day with one fall. Izaak Glanz at 182 was 2-3 with two pins. Eric Escajeda at 285 was 2-3 with two falls to his credit.

The Kimball wrestlers will be on the home mats this Tuesday, Dec. 20, hosting Chase County and Hershey with wrestling to begin at 5 p.m.
